Product guide · Volume 001

Keep the music. Keep what it meant.

A Digital Box Set gives a band a lasting public archive and a private place to collect, protect, approve, and publish the stories around its music.

Get started

One product with two connected sides

The public side is made for fans. The private side is made for the band and its trusted team. Content moves between them only when the band publishes it and the contributor has granted the required permission.

Fan experience

The band’s branded archive: records, eras, shows, artifacts, official links, and approved fan stories. Fans can read, explore, and send a private letter to the band.

Steward Studio

The band’s working area: create archive chapters, review fan letters, preserve files with credits and rights, and prepare approved material for an edition.

One product, two sides

Fan Experience and Steward Studio are both A Digital Box Set

Fan experience

This is what the audience receives. It lives at the band's chosen URL and contains only published or explicitly approved material.

Steward Studio

This is A Digital Box Set's built-in backend and dashboard. It is where a band customizes its box set, manages content, reviews submissions, tracks rights, and chooses what fans can see. In production it requires a band account.

The simplest mental model: Steward Studio is the backend where the band builds and manages its Digital Box Set. The Fan Experience is the public result.

Band → fans → band

How the complete loop works

  1. The band creates its workspace and replaces all template content with its identity, releases, links, and visual system.
  2. The band builds and publishes archive chapters in Steward Studio.
  3. Fans visit the public experience through the band’s site, mailing list, QR code, anniversary campaign, or social channels.
  4. A fan writes what a song, album, or show meant and chooses whether the message stays private or may be considered for sharing.
  5. The letter enters the band’s private inbox. Nothing publishes automatically.
  6. The band holds, approves, or follows up on eligible material.
  7. Approved stories can join the archive or an editorial package for a zine, anniversary book, liner notes, or campaign—with the contributor’s permission preserved.

Using Steward Studio

Overview

See the current size and readiness of the collection. The counts summarize chapters, artifacts, letters, and approved stories.

Fan letters

Review what arrived. “Hold” keeps a contribution out of public use. “Approve” is available only when the writer granted sharing permission; publication consent is tracked separately.

Collection

Create releases, historical chapters, shows, and artifacts. Save unfinished work as a draft or publish finished material to the fan experience.

Images & rights

Store each image with its caption, creator credit, and rights state. “Permission needed” prevents an asset from entering a rights-cleared editorial export.

Publishing queue

Download a structured package containing published entries, book-approved stories, and cleared assets. Future editions can add PDF, zine, and print-layout exports.

Collection settings

This is where each purchased edition will become the band’s own: band name, logo, colors, typography, archive title, custom domain, official music links, merchandise, tickets, mailing list, contributor terms, team members, and publishing defaults.

The current button deliberately opens this guide. It should not pretend to save settings until authentication and permanent database storage are connected.
